Belmont Ammunition was first established in 1971 (then known as Belmont Firearms) and was situated in Lower Hutt.  The concept of the business in those days was to import high quality firearms and ammunition for the competitive shooter.  Since those early times Belmont has grown and is now almost entirely involved in the importation, manufacture and selling of ammunition for both domestic and overseas markets.  The business moved to Wanganui in 1987 and has almost 1700 square metres of production and warehouse facilities.

Belmont Ammunition is also the New Zealand agent for LAPUA, which is our premier ammunition, used by Military, Police and recreational shooters worldwide.

Belmont Ammunition manufactures its own ammunition in New Zealand and the Belmont line is assembled from all new componentry.  The end result is a product able to compete in quality with other brands, but at a price that is very competitive.  All Belmont brand ammunition is loaded to industry specifications and matches or exceeds actual performance and function against competitive brands of ammunition.

At Belmont we do more than just manufacture, import and market ammunition. The management and staff who are responsible for all development, manufacture, quality control and sales, personally test the products. Our dedicated team continuously put theory into practice with many years vast experience including New Zealand representative target shooting.

TESTING

Range testing is carried out by Belmont staff at an indoor test facility. The rifles used are an assortment of standard hunting rifles. Accuracy and consistency obtained under these conditions ensures suitability of our products in all NZ conditions and often results in customers obtaining results well beyond expectation.

QUALITY CONTROL

Cartridges are checked for quality before and during manufacture, then re-examined when each cartridge is individually hand packed by members of the Quality Control team. Effectively each cartridge is examined many times during manufacture.
